Composition and mode of action
Bio-Axin® is a bioinsecticide formulated with secondary metabolites of Streptomyces spp. BB016. Its mechanism of action involves blocking the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at the neuromuscular junction, resulting in paralysis and death in target insects. In addition, it acts by contact and ingestion, offering fast and effective control over different species of thrips.
Field-proven efficacy
Field trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Bio-Axin® in the control of thrips in several crops:
– Raspberry(Rubus idaeus): In Jocotepec, Jalisco, Mexico, Bio-Axin® showed an efficacy of 89% to 92% in the reduction of Frankliniella occidentalis, comparable to the chemical reference in the market.
– Lemon (Citrus x limon): In San Martin Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico, Bio-Axin® achieved significant efficacy against Scirtothrips citri.
